Professional Bio
Bret Richards, CAI, is a native Texan and 23-year auction industry veteran. He was named the 2007 Texas State Champion Auctioneer after earning the Rookie Champion title in 2004.
Bret is co-owner of Capstone Auction Partners and Capstone Realty Partners, formerly Coleman & Patterson. Based in Bryan–College Station, the companies provide residential, farm and ranch, investment, and commercial real estate brokerage, marketing, and auction services throughout Texas.
Bret has guided clients through hundreds of real estate transactions involving residential, farm and ranch, investment, and commercial properties. His auction career includes selling multiple auctions each week for Manheim, the world’s largest wholesale vehicle auction, and serving as a broker and auctioneer for national real estate auction firm ServiceLink Hudson & Marshall. He has facilitated thousands of auctions across all 50 states and Puerto Rico and currently holds more than 30 real estate and auctioneer licenses nationwide.
Bret also conducts benefit and youth livestock auctions across Texas, helping raise millions of dollars for worthy causes. His clients include Texas A&M Athletics, the American Heart Association, the Texas Rangers’ Do It For Durrett Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs, and many others.
A first-generation auctioneer, Bret says the auctioneer life chose him—not the other way around. He has been a member of the National Auction Association and Texas Auctioneers Association since becoming licensed in 2003 and graduated from the NAA Certified Auctioneers Institute in 2007.
Originally from Cayuga, Texas, Bret grew up on a ranch and was active in FFA and 4-H. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2001, where he competed on the Texas Aggie Rodeo Team. Bret lives in College Station with his wife, Roxanne; their children, Kimber and Kade; and their pup, Trip.
