Gustavo Reis

Gustavo Cristiano Samuel dos Reis is an Official Public Auctioneer in Brazil, registered since 2008 in the States of São Paulo and Santa Catarina. He wrote the opinion and appeared as a named petitioner in the proceeding before Brazil's National Council of Justice which established that an electronic judicial sale must be conducted by a registered auctioneer, a natural person personally accountable for the acts performed, and not by a company or a platform. The São Paulo Court of Justice amended its service rules within ninety days, and the decision was later challenged before the Federal Supreme Court, which rejected the attempt to set it aside.

He serves as President of the National Association of Judicial Auctioneers (ANLJ), President of the São Paulo State Auctioneers' Union, and Director of Institutional Relations of the Brazilian national auctioneers federation, and sits on the federal working group drafting the legislation that will replace Brazil's 1932 auction statute. He represented Brazil at meetings of the Asociación Americana de Rematadores, Corredores Inmobiliarios, Tasadores y Balanceadores in 2022 and 2026.

His research addresses regulatory architecture, the attribution of responsibility, and internal controls in the disposition of public assets, and includes a working paper on auctioneer licensing in the United States deposited with the Social Science Research Network. He is Founder and Principal of Public Asset Integrity Group LLC and is based in Florida.
